Our General Goals

  •  Interfaith Interaction. Promote and facilitate greater interaction among Central Florida’s many faith traditions, both at the level of spiritual leaders and faith communities.
  • Religious Liberty. Advocate for the free exercise of religion for all faiths, working to eliminate discrimination by government, employers and individuals.
  • Networking Out. Facilitate the out-flow of information concerning the resources and activities that member faith groups offer that might be of interest to the general public and/or other faith groups.
  • Networking In. Facilitate the in-flow of information to Central Florida’s faith groups concerning governmental, civic and private-agency information, services and resources that might be of interest to faith groups.
  • Interfaith Events. Coordinate interfaith projects and events designed to heighten faith-group interaction, create greater interfaith understanding, encourage interfaith friendship and benefit the Central Florida community in general.
  • Moral and Ethical Impact. Maintain contact with legislators, civic leaders and members of the media to ensure effective input concerning social, moral and ethical issues being debated in the public forum, and seek to be a regular source of comment and education concerning such issues.
  • Consensus Statements. Influence social, moral and ethical discussions that are taking place in the public forum by preparing statements of our bottom-line common understandings, to be posted on the Interfaith Council’s website and released to the media.
  • Effective Communication. Develop, maintain and continually improve mechanisms for communication with the Interfaith Council, with the region’s various faith communities and with the general public.
  • Volunteer Coordination. Recruit and oversee volunteers to help plan and execute the various activities of the Interfaith Council.
  • Long-Term Viability. Establish and maintain structures, procedures, programs and relationships that ensure the long-term viability and effectiveness of the Interfaith Council.
  • Provision for Change. Conduct regular reviews of our effectiveness, ensuring that mechanisms are in place to readily facilitate the adjustments necessitated by a constantly changing social-spiritual landscape.
